The Treasure Coast Lionfish Safari is our area’s tournament aimed at reducing the number of invasive lionfish in our coastal waters. Scheduled for a 2 DAYS JUNE 12-13, this event will succeed in gathering research information for local scientists, reduce the numbers of this invasive species, and encourage sportsmen to take an active hand in protecting the unique and diverse ecosystem we have right at our doorstep.
2 DAY EVENT JUNE 12-13
The Lionfish Safari is an opportunity to learn more about the invasive Lionfish that are taking over our coastal waters. Divers can participate in the competition for biggest, smallest, and most lionfish removed from the water over the weekend, and cash prizes will be awarded! There will be kid’s activities, bands, vendors, and food booths throughout the weekend; and the scientific community will be on site taking measurements and samples so we can learn more about how to stop this predator from eating all of our native fish species. This educational event is fun for the entire family.
